 NAME
nliostart - start Native Language I/O

 SYNOPSIS
      nliostart tb [server]

 DESCRIPTION
nliostart enables NLIO by executing a NLIO server and a new shell.
nliostart finds an available pseudo terminal (see pty(7)) and executes
an NLIO server between the master side of the pty and the user's
terminal. It also executes a new shell on the slave side of the pty.
The shell is determined by the SHELL environment variable. If it is
not defined, /usr/bin/sh is used as a default shell. Exiting the new
shell terminates nliostart. If an NLIO server is already running for
the current tty and either input or output conversion is enabled for
the tty, nliostart does not execute a new NLIO server.

The tb argument specifies the terminal behavior for the I/O. The
following values for tb are recognized:

bc Simplified Chinese; HP terminal mode.

bt Traditional Chinese CCDC; HP terminal mode.

bt.big5 Traditional Chinese BIG5; HP terminal mode.

bt.cns Traditional Chinese CNS; HP terminal mode.

vc Simplified Chinese; DEC VT terminal mode.

vt Traditional Chinese CCDC; DEC VT terminal mode.

vt.big5 Traditional Chinese BIG5; DEC VT terminal mode.

vt.cns Traditional Chinese CNS; DEC VT terminal mode.

The optional server argument identifies the NLIO server that nliostart
executes to perform NLIO. If the server is omitted, the default
      server bserver is executed.

Each server is capable of conversion between file code (HP-15 or EUC)
and external code (HP-15 or HP-16), although some features are not
available on all servers. When the stty(1) command option icanon is
set, entering a single erase character erases the preceding single-
      byte or multi-byte input character.

The following values are recognized for server:

bserver Convert code between file code (HP-15) and
external code (HP-16 for HP terminal mode, or HP-
15 for DEC VT terminal mode) for the languages of

(CCDC). bserver is not capable of host input
			  conversion.

bserver.big5 Convert code between file code (HP-15) and
external code (HP-16 for HP terminal mode, or HP-
15 for DEC VT terimnal mode) for the language of
Traditional Chinese BIG5. bserver.big5 is not
			  capable of host input conversion.

bserver.euc is used for code conversion between file code
(EUC) and external code (HP-15) for the language
of Traditional Chinese CNS. bserver.euc is not
			  capable of host input conversion.
