       User Defined Font Generating System


       User can execute the UDF generator on a HP9000 terminal.

       $ big5udfgen < return >

       The following messages will show on the screen :

	big5udfgen: Only 5809 fonts are officially supported.
	big5udfgen: If more than 5809 characters are needed then contact HP

	big5udfgen: Note that font file should reside in WORKING directory !
	big5udfgen: Please input font file name:(Demand input for filename!)

       Key in the font file name and press < return >, then it will enter
       the main screen of the system.

       * UDF System Functional Description

	 The screen is composed of four sub-screen areas

	 1. The font area : Working area of the UDF, the added or updated
			    font will appear in this area.

	 2. The function area : It is used to display the functions system
				are offerring now.

	 3. The message area : The message displaying area between the
			       system and user.

	 4. The status area : The area displaying the current status of the
			      system.

	    . FONT*24 / FONT*16 : Showing the font size currently using,
				  24*24 or 16*16.

	    . Big5-Code / Key-Code : Using Big5-Code or Key-Code to search
				     for fonts.

	    . Sector # : To select partial font area as sector

			 0 : Whole Character	5 : Right Part
			 1 : Upper Right Part	6 : Left Part
			 2 : Lower Right Part	7 : Lower Part
			 3 : Lower Left Part	8 : Upper Part
			 4 : Upper Left Part

	    . Index # : The #-th character is under processing.

	    . Max # : There are totally # of characters in this font file.

	    . FontFile : The font file name currently are working.

	    . Ext File : The external font file currently are referring.

	    . Big5-Code ## : The Big5 code of this font(internal code).

	    . TsangChieh ## : The Tsang-Chieh code of this font.

	    . Cursor( X, Y) : The current cursor position when editing font.

	    . Step # : The moving distance(column or row) the cursor moves
		       every time when the user hit the arrow keys.

	    . Memorize # : The Big5 code of the font when saving to the
			   buffer.


       * Movement of the Cursor


	 When editing the font, we use the left, right, up, or down arrow
	 keys to control the cursor to move to the proper position we need.
	 Every time when we hit them once, the cursor will move one "step"
	 depanding on which arrow key we hit.


       * Control of the Step


	 The size of the step is controlled by the < Back Space > key and
	 the < Return > key.

	 < Return > : Increase the moving step by the order of
		      ==> 1, 2, 4, 8, 16.
	 < Back Space > : Decrease the moving step by the order of
			  ==> 16, 8, 4, 2, 1.


       * Menu Description

	 After the system is started, it will enter main menu area, and
	 the main menu including :

	 . Display Font or press 'd' : Include the following sub-menu :

	      . Next or press 'n' : Display next font

	      . Previous or press 'p' : Display previous font

	      . First or press 'f' : Display first font

	      . Last or press 'l' : Display last font

	      . Auto Scan or press 'a' : Automatically scan from first font
					 to the last. During the display,
					 user can press any key to stop it.

	      . Search or press 's' : Search for a specific font

	      . Change Mode or press 'c' : Change mode between Tele-Code
					   or Key-Code for the order of
					   the display

	      . End or press 'e' : Exit this sub-menu and back to main menu


	 . Add Font or press 'a' : Add a specific font

	 . Modify Font or press 'm' : Modify a specific font

	 Add/Modify font sub-menu desscription

	     . Mark or press 'm' : To mark a point in the current cursor
				   position

	     . Connect or press 'c' : Connect the marked point to the
				      current cursor position

	     . Fill One Point or press 'f' : Fill in one point in the
					     current cursor position

	     . Delete One Point or press 'd' : Delete the current cursor
					       position point

	     . Key Code Modify or press 'a' : To modify the Key-Code of
					      this font

	     . Big5Code Modify or press 't' : To modify the Big5-Code of
					      this font

	     . Invert or press 'i' : To invert the whole font area. That
				     means, filled points will be deleted,
				     and un-filled points will be added.

	     . Save or press 's' : To save the current font in font area.

	     . Up, Down, Left, Right or press '1', '2', '3', '4' :
		 Use the current cursor position as origin, and shift the
		 partial font area represented by sector up, down, left,
		 or right.

	     . Sector or press '5' : To select partial font area as sector

	     . Erase or press '6' : Erase the partial font area(sector)

	     . Load or press '7' : Load a font. User can choose to load from
				   current font file or reference external
				   font file.

	     . Memorize or press '8' :
		 Save the current font into a buffer area.

	     . Merge or press '9' :
		 Merge the font originally in the buffer area with the
		 current font into a new font.

	     . Exit or press 'e' : Exit this sub-menu and back to main menu


	  . Delete font or press 'd' : Delete a specific font.

	  . Print the fort or press 'p' : Print the font from a printer

	  . Open Ext. File or press 'f' : Open external font file for
					  processing

	  . Close Ext. File or press 'q' : Close external font file

	  . 16 / 24 or press 's' : Choose to process 16*16 size font
				   or 24*24 size font

	  . Code Range or press 'r' : Display the code range layout of
				      Big5 code UDF

	  . Change Code or press 'c' : Change mode between Big5 Code
				       or Key-Code for the processing

	  . Exit or press 'e' : Exit the system
